SACO - Albert J. Descoteaux, 72, of Oak Street, died Wednesday at Southern Maine Medical Center following a long illness. He was born in Saco, a son of Adelard and Clara Remillard Descoteaux, and attended Saco schools. On Aug. 3, 1946, he married Jeannette Roussin at St. Joseph's Church in Biddeford. Mr. Descoteaux worked at York Mills and served with the Navy during World War II. He then worked at Biddeford Box Company for more 15 years and at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for 26 years, retiring in 1986. During his retirement, he worked part-time at the University of New England and Deering Lumber Company. He was a member of the VFW in Biddeford, and a lifetime member of the Biddeford DAV. He enjoyed oil painting, reading, traveling and boating. Surviving are his wife of Saco; two sons, Renald F. of Biddeford and Michael A. of Saco; a daughter, Janet S. Griffin of Sophia, N.C.; a brother, Arthur of West Newfield; three grandchildren; and four great-grandsons. Visting hours will be from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday at Notre Dame de Lourdes Church, Saco. Burial will be in the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta.(Journal Tribune, Biddeford, ME)
